some
of the most collected items of Pountneys pottery are items from the
"BRISTOL KITCHENWARE " range. This was originally designed in
the 1930's by Jack Price a talented designer from The Royal Cauldon
Works who as well as this range of wares was responsible for the
"MODERN BRISTOL" shapes. KITCHENWARE was produced in pale
yellow and pale green and covered all the needs of the 30's housewife
from storage jars to measuring jugs in a matching style. The design was
very art- deco and of its period but never the less many of Prices
shapes survived through to the 60's and were utilised by Honor Elliot in
her award winning"LONGLINE" kitchenware rage.
This time the ware was white with a stylised cutlery decoration and lids
in primary red ,yellow or blue. There is ample scope here for the
kitchenalia collector with a huge variety of different items having been
made. |
